Common questions

Do I need a Lichess account?

Yes. You sign in with Lichess, and your profile is built from your recent rated games there. It needs about fifty rated games from the last four months to say anything worth reading.

Does it work with Chess.com?

Not yet. Middlegame is built on Lichess, because Lichess analyses your games on its own servers and every review here reads that analysis.

Where do the numbers come from?

Reviews and insights read Lichess’s own server analysis, the same analysis behind the eval graph on your Lichess board, so the numbers match what you see there. The 1–10 skill scores on your profile are ours: computed from your games and ranked against players in your rating band. How your games are read →

What is a season, and what does it cost?

About three months with your second in your corner: the full 40-game insights report, refreshed monthly, then a check-in every week written from the games you played. Seasons are free during early access. Your profile, your first insights report and your Learn page are free either way.

What happens to my data?
